Life In Flow - 5
Yoga
I started researching how to convert the energy I gained through breathing into physical activity. I tried individual sports like walking, jogging and cycling at the time. These sports are both useful and I knew I was good at them. However, I was past the age to do cardio sports. After a while I was starting to struggle. I needed an activity, preferably individual, that I could pursue in summer and winter.
I came across Kurt Johnsen's Power Yoga series on satellite broadcast. Johnsen was teaching asana for 45 minutes, blending yoga and breathing and guiding him with a calm voice. I had a hard time when I first started. I remember sweat dripping from my forehead as I did the seemingly easy movements. Still, I found the energy inside me to continue every day with my new frequency. Afterwards, with 90 days of work that would allow me to lose 15 kilos, I observed that not only did I lose weight, but also that my calmness increased. Now yoga has become a part of my life.
It is said that there are 5,000 poses in yoga. The aim is not to know many poses, but to descend into calmness in yoga poses with deep breaths. If you can forget the difficulty of the movements, even the pose you are doing and stay in the moment while doing yoga, even if it takes hours, it seems like the yoga is finished quickly. This is true yoga. At the end of the yoga asana, you can relax and rest as if you are completely in space with Savasana pose. All your physical tensions disappear.
Yoga is physical exercise that you can do at any age. It may take a few weeks to learn the basic moves. You also do not need to know the original names of the poses. Turkish "wood", "mountain", "cobra" etc. The names are also very memorable. Names and words don't matter. Once you've learned a basic set, you can practice yoga at home and outside, no equipment required.
The prayer movements shown in Islamic traditions are in yoga. Surya Namaskar is also very similar in name. The effects on the human body are also very similar. It has great benefits in terms of blood circulation, immune system, breathing and mental calmness.
Those who do yoga are almost anti-aging, breathing, meditation and physical exercise are wonderfully blended together and are flexible for human nature to be applied for life.
Thus, I began to live in harmony and peace with my physical body. On the other hand, evolution continued and opened doors to the world I existed outside of my physical body.
